Absent 1/3 of the Time
Before you read further, I would like to make clear the following discussion about Chris Deschene is not gossip, fiction, or personal attack. What follows are facts, supported by unbiased journalists and Deschene's own words. I will leave immature personal attacks and baseless allegations to the children.
Chris Clark Deschene took an oath of office to represent the people of Legislative District 2 less than two years ago. Since taking office, he has missed 316 votes in the House of Representatives. That's right, 197 missed votes during the 2010 session alone, according to official records obtained from the House clerk's office. The Arizona Capitol Times reported on Chris Deschene's voting record earlier this year (http://azcapitoltimes.com/news/2010/05/21/lawmakers-miss-fewer-votes-this-year/).
Deschene missed 119 votes during the 2009 session a total of 316 missed votes since he took office.

During a televised forum in Tucson on July 26, Deschene cited his rural residence (Window Rock) as justification for his record of not voting. However, Deschene's House colleagues from rural Arizona didn't let distance prevent them from performing the duties of their office:
Rep. Fleming of Sierra Vista missed 15 votes
Rep. Pancrazi of Yuma missed 43 votes
Rep. Goodale of Kingman missed 15 votes
Rep. McLain of Bullhead City missed 1 vote
and Rep. Jones of Yuma missed 44 votes.
Chris Deschene missed more votes than all his rural colleagues combined. On that record he bases his qualifications for higher office? Folks, that's not a record to run on, that is a record to run from.

Global Warming Denier, Shill for Big Coal
The comments that follow are not fiction or rumor, they are facts supported by the words of Rep. Chris Deschene, Democratic candidatate for Arizona Secretary of State.
Chris Deschene claims he is a energy consultant, but he is actually just a highly paid lawyer working for Big Coal companies looking to build yet another polluting power plant on the Navajo Nation (http://www.pe.com/business/local/stories/PE_Biz_D_coalplant25.2665669.html).
The proposed power plant has caused a division in the Navajo community who fear the health effects of toxic emissions. Air pollution on the Navajo Nation already is worse than some urban areas due to the two existing coal power plants (http://newmexicoindependent.com/50277/desert-rock-company-nixes-coal-for-nevada-power-project). The environmental impact of coal mining on the Nation are undeniable, cherished Navajo land has been sacrificed to strip mining and desperately needed aquifers have been poisoned (http://www.desert-rock-blog.com/).
So while most of the world is looking to alternative energies like solar and wind, Deschene is trying to lead Arizona and the Navajos to the past, in fact Deschene laughs off global warming. When asked about global warming, the best he could manage was to smart remark that 30 years ago people were worried about global cooling and now they’re worried about warming (http://azdailysun.com/news/article_71442acb-ff5e-5cb1-ac10-8913ae363130.html). While he cashes a sooty paycheck, Deschene wants the rest of us to ignore Nobel winning scientists who agree that global warming is real and is a threat to humanity. What's next, uranium mining?
